Rent arrears soared in December.

25 01 2011

Hi guys,
A research by LSL showed that rent arrears have soared in December by a further 2% up on November, increasing the national figure to 11.7%. The increase has been blamed on housing benefit being paid direct to the tenant and in a number of cases it has not been passed onto the landlord. The British Property Foundation (BPF) is claiming the LHA payment policy, which was introduced in 2008, is responsible for landlords withdrawing residential property from claimants of housing benefit.
I am pleased to say that we do NOT have any rent arrears. This is purely based on our rent collection and tenant referencing procedures. If you would like more information on these procedures, please give us a call on 01782 321 400
Have a good day.
